DexDir Directory Listing Submission Guidelines & Terms Of Service

DexDir is an index of online English language web directories which in turn index the web, promoting the sites they list. Regular and Featured listing records are valid for the life of the original hyperlink submission resource. Regular listings are "Reciprocal Link Listings" and require a reciprocal link back to our directory (prove your directory/site works). This way we help each other promote each other's site in a win-win scenario. Featured Listings show above regular Reciprocal listings.

In order for your submission to qualify for approval your submitted resource must a webmaster friendly English language web directory or related resource (web directory blog, directory administrators' network, meta search engine, etc.) that will pass its page rank to the directoies/websites/blogs which it lists. It must also conform to the following Directory Listing Submission Guidelines:

DexDir only accepts listings for quality directories which actively index. Only featured listings may submit deep links. All other listings may only submit high level domain addresses (ie: http://www.foosite.com, http://dir.foosite.com & http://foosite.com).

Featured listings are reviewed as quickly as possible. Please allow up to 4 days for featured listing submission reviews just in case DexDir is on a long holiday weekend. Support of the DexDir directory index through paid links encourages us to keep the directory up-to-date. Therefore, upon receiving payment for a featured directory listing we review a number of the regular reciprocal link listing submissions in the que, as well.

It is alarming how many listing submissions we receive that are deleted for not adhering to these very simple guidelines. Many indexes/directories/searchengines/directoryblogs could have been listed in DexDir if they would have just paid attention. Please read these guidelines, we do want to list quality directories (and only quality directories). But we also aren't going to write your copy for you or correct your listings spelling and puncuation, that's not DexDir's job.

Important Notes:
• Make sure your index/directory website is online, up and running!
• Websites and directory services which load too slowly may be denied a listing (we recommend using Domain Hostmaster for a fast and reliable web host.)
• Only submit English language resource indexes of good taste which can be easily navigated.
• We will manually look-up your directory's host IP and add the country of the IP to your listing. This affords users who are marketing to a particular region, for instance, the opportunity to skip directories and indexing services which don't actually have traffic or a marketing identity in their targeted locale.

Do NOT Submit:
• Any directory/index/list that does not return (pass) PR (page rank) to its listed resources.
• Any directory/index/list that incorporates a "donotfollow" attribute into its resource listings anchor link tag (including free listings, if offered).
• Any directory/index/list that is not search engine friendly.
• Any directory/index/list that is not user friendly.
• Listings comprised largely of keywords in either the title or description.
• Sites that use black hat SEO techniques such as cloaking, multiple doorways, hidden text, or keyword spamming.
• Directories under construction.
• Free-For-All (FFA) lists.
• Index/Directory sites with broken internal links.
• Indexes/Directories which offer more than 50 links per page.
• Made-for-advertisement directory sites (commonly called scraper sites).
• Any site where advertisement links can be confused with the navigation links.
• Directories using excessive pop-ads (ads that pop-up, pop-under, pop on exit).
• Directories that look like crap in Mozilla FireFox.

Banned Sites: Do NOT submit sites which promote, offer or sell:
• Cracks, Warez or Piracy
• Crime
• Drugs
• Multi Level Marketing (MLM) schemes
• Spam
• Hate
• Violence

Important Tips to a Succesful Submission:
• Select the deepest category possible to submit your resource listing. Listings are not allowed in the top categories at all.
• Do NOT use all upper or lower case characters for your title or description.
• Do use the business and/or directory name in the title.
• Do NOT repeat the business or directory name in the description.
• You are limited to 600 characters for your description.
• Use correct punctuation in your description.
• Capitalize the first letter of every significant word of the title (unless it is a trademark that uses lower case by its brand definition).
  Example Title:
  DexDir: Search Enabled Index of English Language Directories.
• Do NOT use a period at the end in a title (it's a title, not a sentence).
• Do NOT use the following characters: " @ # $ % ^
• Do NOT overuse exclamation marks.
• Do NOT use offensive words or language.
• Be objective. Describe your offering truthfully.
• Avoid "The Best", "The Most", "Awesome", "Cool", etc.
• Write in the third person. "I", "We" and "Us" actually refers to DexDir and we do not make recommendations without carefully scrutinizing the service and its particular details.
• Note that if you are or will wind-up linking to any type of banned web presence, you are in fact promoting it and when we catch this your listing will be deleted without notice (this is our resource for good PR backlinks, as well).

The e-mail address you volunteer to us for listing submission validation will not be published, nor will it be shared or sold in any way. Your e-mail address is intended to verify your listing request once your listing has been submitted and to contact you should there be any issues with it. We also may contact you with search optimization news and/or updates to our service when they occur. Instructions at the end of any such DexDir e-mail newsletter will allow you to opt-out of this service.

The DexDir administration reserves the right to reject or delete any listing record for any reason.

Refunds
Any paid listing submission that follows the DexDir submission guidelines and is rejected will be refunded any accompanying listing submission fee. However, we do not refund for paid listing submissions that do not conform to these submission guidelines, so do read up.
